OH-Semi automatic - Overheight frame
The Timars OH-frame is a semi automatic overheight spreader which has been developed in order to assist operators with safe and efficient handling of oversized goods; like flats, bolsters and open top containers.
The Timars OH-frame is manually attached under the parent spreader and acts as "extended legs" to the parent spreader. The overheight spreaders twistlocks follows the twistlocks of the main spreader, if the built-in safety system doesn't prevent this. This means a much safer handling than with chains. No power supply or hydraulics is needed. It is a pure mechanical design which results in less down-time.
The parent spreader is put on top of the Timars UNIVERSAL OH-frame with all four twistlocks of the parent spreader inside the top corner castings of the OH-frame.
The Timars OH-frame is equipped with one fixation handle per short side on the inside.
Attaching (before use) and deattaching (after use) is simply done by hand when turning this handle in 90 degree horizontally. By doing this there is a linked security device (patented) that keeps the OH-frame attached to the parent spreader independent of if the twistlocks of the parent spreader are in open or locked position. When the
twistlocks of the parent spreader are locked inside the top corner castings of the
OH-frame the OH-frame is hanging on the twistlocks of the parent spreader the same
way as when a container is attached to the parent spreader. When they are in opened
position the twistlocks of the parent spreader are hanging on the security device.
Some minor adjustments may be required on the existing parent spreader to be used
together with the Timars OH frame. Timars will provide, on client request and if performable, with instruction how to perform the adjustments on the parent spreader.
The Timars OHA-frame has two short side profiles and one center beam that are welded together and can be of either telescopic 20-45ft or fixed type 20ft or 40ft. The low taraweight and unique telescope system makes telescoping easy.
When the parent spreader is attached to the OH-frame the twistlocks of the OH-frame are operated by twistlocks of the parent spreader via an internal special vertical rod. This means that when trying to lock the twistlocks of parent spreader it will automatically turn the twistlocks of the OH-frame, if the built-in STB-system does not prevent this. Cut-outs on the inside of each OH-frame leg indicates opened (red) or closed (green) position.
Safety Twistlock blocking system (STB-system):
The Timars OH-frame has a built-in STB-system.
The twistlock will not lock if the twistlock is blocked by force from beneath. For example if the twistlock is rested on top of the container. The indicator on the leg will still be showing a twistlock open.
The Timars OH has a very important built-in system that always keeps the twistlocks in either locked or unlocked position even when the OH is deattached from the spreader. This prevents the risk of fault when attaching the parent spreader to the OH-frame.
