OHA-Fully automatic overheight frame
The Timars OHA-frame is a fully automatic overheight spreader which
has been developed in order to assist operators with the most safe and efficient handling of oversized goods; like flats, bolsters and open top containers.
The OHA-frame is attached under any parent spreader with ISO standard base measure, by the twistlocks of the parent spreader only, and acts as "extended legs" to the parent spreader. This means a much safer and faster than handling goods with chains. No adjustments or additional equipment is needed on the parent spreader for attaching or deattaching the Timars OHA-frame. No external power supply or hydraulics is needed neither for attaching nor in operation. The locking of the twistlocks of the Timars OHA-frame is pure mechanical design and works on gravity and lift principle, which means that locking and unlocking of the twistlocks is made by lifting the overheight spreader. This leads to less down-time, operational advantages such as Timars OHA is not depending of pressure on the parent twistlocks or malfunction in a hydraulic system due to temperate differences. This of course also has brought down the maintenance time and costs to a minimum.
The Timars OHA-frame has two short side profiles and one center beam that are bolted
together and can be of either telescopic 20-45ft or fixed type 20ft or 40ft. The low taraweight and unique telescope system makes telescoping easy. Parent spreader must be allowed to telescope with locked
twistlocks.
Each OHA-frame is delivered parted, if not others agreed, in 3pcs sections; consisting of 2pcs short side profiles and 1pcs centre beam, due to cost saving in freight. The frame is assembled very easily in less than 1 hour. The frame is ready to use instantly.
Compability
The Timars OHA frame is fully compatible to any kind of parent spreader of ISO box base measures within 20-45ft length. All four twistlocks must be used when operating the OHA. Parent spreader must be allowed to telescope with locked twistlocks.
Safety systems
The Timars OHA-frame is an intelligent tool that helps the operator to take control of
some possible external errors, such as parts that partly blocks the inside of the corner
casting, skew corner castings, frame resting on one or several twislock(s), that may
occur.
Safety Twistlock Blocking -system (STB-system):
The OHA-frame is equipped with a skilled STB-system that blocks the twistlock(s) from
turning if it is resting incorrect on top of a flat/ box or the quay. Each twistlock has also a control-pin which blocks the twistlock from locking when the twistlock isn’t in correct position.
Safety Torque Limitation -system (STL-system):
If a twistlock is prevented to twist, either from STB-System or externally jammed, the Safety Torque Limitation system (STL-system) will allow the parent spreader to still lift
the OHA-frame but the twistlocks of the OHA-frame will remain in open position.
This unique system allow the operator to lift the parent spreader, with the attached
OHA-frame, in order to inspect the beneath flat/container from errors. All four twistlocks is connected to each other which means that if one twistlock is prevented to lock than neither twistlock will lock.
Safety Twistlocks Emergancy -system (STE-system):
Each twistlock of the OHA-frame can, when the frame is resting on its goods, manually
by turned by hand or if slightly jammed by a standard tool. Due to the special design
there is no risk of an incorrect position when putting it back to normal again.
Safety Operational Control – system (SOC-system)
The Timars OHA-frame is equipped with an onboard PLC-system that surveys and enhances a safety release of its goods. When desired location for the goods has been determined the operator simply opens and closes the parent twistlocks which unblocks the ratchet mechanism. Now, when lifting the parent spreader the OHA-twistlocks changes position. If, by any reason, the operator changes his mind after opening and closing the parent twistlocks he only waits*) some seconds and hereafter the mechanism will be blocked and when lifting nothing happens with the OHA-twistlocks position. If desired, by any reason, the system is easily by-passed with a manual control valve making the OHA-twistlock to change position, on normal basis, every time when lifting the parent spreader.
Twistlock indicators
Rotating discs (one per side, on the operators left hand side when facing long side) to indicate, to the driver of the crane, reach stacker, straddle carrier or any other handler, the status of the twistlocks of the OHA-frame. If nothing else ordered, Dark green = OHA open twistlocks and dark red = OHA locked twistlocks.
